ANALOLA SANTANA

Dramaturg

Analola Santana is Associate Professor of theatre and performance at Dartmouth College (USA). Her research and teaching areas of specialty include 20th and 21st century Latin American theatre and performance, as well as mass and popular culture, gender and violence, and aesthetic theory.

 

She studied an MFA in dramaturgy at the University of California, San Diego and a PhD in Latin American theatre at the University of California, Irvine. She is the author of Teatro y Cultura de Masas: Encuentros y Debates (published by Escenología) and Freak Performances: Dissidence in Latin American Theatre (published by the University of Michigan Press). She is also the co-editor of Theatre and Cartographies of Power: Repositioning the Latina/o Americas and of the special issue Freakish Encounters of the journal Hispanic Issues Online. She has published her work in several journals and edited collections. She is company dramaturg for Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes, under the direction of Claudio Valdés Kuri.
