Artistic Philosophy

Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes works under simple principles whose consequences are widespread. Each project is approached considering specific risks and queries in an open debate. The project is concluded once these have been duly solved, so that the group can concentrate on the next. We consider that the element of change is the prime instrument for the development of the artistic spirit.

Research work for each project is focused on trying to avoid as much as possible, the repetition of former presentation models and previous discoveries. At the same time, each presentation is polished during a long gestation process, nourished by the accumulated experience gained in direction, production, from the creative team and the interpreters. For the scenic work we rely entirely upon the total capacity of the multidisciplinary artist actor-musician-dancer.

Cultural Project

The committed objective of Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes is to develop a high quality, artistic contribution to culture, of substance and long-term relevance.

We take the term "culture" to mean an intellectual or artistic development towards knowledge, the only means of gaining freedom/liberty, to evolve and to awaken. Theatre could, and should be an excellent means of communication to transmit knowledge.

To achieve these cultural aims, we are developing a type of theatre that appeals to the individual to help him expand his inner and outer world.

We, at Teatro de Ciertos Habitantes, have decided to offer and share the knowledge and experiences we have acquired. We make theatre, of no particular genre or style, but with a constant search for quality in expression, through truly experimental form. We are joined in this venture by playwrights, artists, scientists, humanists, and friends from several countries, cultures and languages.

We have chosen Mexico as our home base as it provides the raw material and sustenance for our creations. Here, we find fertile ground amid the chaos, for the free thinker to express his thoughts within the necessary order to transmit his message.

We give the same importance to sharing our theatrical performances with all kinds of audiences, whether it be in rural communities or in famous international forums.
